*The Valley of La Trinidad during pre-Spanish times was originally called “Benguet” meaning a marshy land (and the placid shell coming from it)
*Colonial influence reached the area upon Spanish explorers Don M. Quirantes discovery of the valley in 1642, and Guillermo Galveys expedition to benguet in 1829
*The District of Benguet was established in La trinidad by 1846, it was only in April 21, 1874 under Commandant Manuel Scheidnagel,- That “Valle de Benguet” was renamed “Valle de La Trinidad” (La Trinidad Valley)
*With the establishment of Benguet as a province under the Republic of the Philippines in 1899
*In 1900, The American colonizers arrived, and La Trinidad was established as one of the 19 townships under benguet province and moved the capital from La trinidad to Baguio in 1901
*In 1942, Japanese soldiers occupied La Trinidad, Benguet
*La Trinidad was transformed into a full -fledged town from its former statue as municipal district in June 16, 1950
*The municipality is known for its strawberry and vegetable plantations earning the title “Strawberry Firlds of the Philippines”
