*The hotel de oriente was built in 1889 by Don Manuel Perez Marqueti (The father of Luis Perez Samanillo, owner of the Perez Samantillo Building in Escolta)
*It was a First-Class hotel and indeed, at one time was the only one in the entire archipelago
*It was to be First Luxurious Hotel to be built in the Philippines
*It was originally location site in front of Plaza Calderon de la Barca (present name Plaza Lorenzo Ruiz) around Binondo Manila
*The Spanish Architect Juan Huervas y Arizemendi (Who also designed the La Insular Building) was commissioned to design the hotel at a cost $100,000
*The hotel was one of the few dwellings in manila with electricity
*The hotel is also known for its most famous guest, It had 83 rooms one of which (specifically room 22) was where Jose Rizal reportedly stayed upon his return from Hong Kong in June 26, 1892
*Don Manuel Perez Marqueti passed away and his widow sold the hotel in 1899 for $600,000 and moved back to spain
*The hotel continued operation under the American Architect Edgar Bourne in 1903 to purchase the hotel de oriente for $675,000 by the Philippine Commission
*The hotel’s building was later used at the office of Philippines Constabulary, American Circulating Library, Official Gazette, and the Commercial Museum before being destroyed during the Japanese occupation, WWII
*the hotel facade transferred in Bagac,Bataan in October 2013
*Today, the original site of hotel in binondo already occupied by Metrobank (Tytana Plaza Building)
