*Duterte studied Political Science at the Lyceum of the Philippines University, Graduating in 1968, before obtaining a Law degree from San Beda College of Law in 1972
*He worked as lawyer and was prosecutor for Davao City
*Duterte was among the first politicians who appointed deputy mayors to represent the Muslim and Lumad people in the city government
*Duterte was the first local government official to visit Tacloban City after super Typhoon Yolanda
*Duterte is the oldest person to assume the philippine presidency , the record was previously held by Sergio Osmeña at the age of 65

LAPERAL Apartments Building

*Laperal Apartments was built in 1946 (after WWII) by the cousin of Laperals (who built the famous haunted Laperal House in Baguio, and the Arlegui guesthouse in Malacañang)
*The four-storey building was designed in the then popular Art Deco Style Building along Recto Manila
*The apartments were built to attract alta sociedad owners
*Was a spacious unit with heavy, solid narra doors subway tiles and claw foot tubs
*But as Manila’s Business Centers transferred to Makati, the occupants of the apartments sought other living arrangements
*The apartments much like many of manila’s old buildings and landmarks were left unused and abandoned
*It was looted of all architectural pieces that could be carried away and it has changed with the time
*The owners started and decided to return it back to its primary purpose to laperal useful to the community once again
*It was first done on the main building and little of the building was Restored
*Filling the space of the original back building ,The L.A. Village was built to be a hipster’s haven
*The owner originally planned on bringing in a WWII plane- but settled for this authentic german fighter plane from WWI instead, everything about it is real and restored except for the propeller and no more guns
*Today., Laperal Apartments transformation into the already known as “LAPERAL YOUNIVERSITY SUIT”

*After the proposal of formerly President Ferdinand Marcos in 1969 of the creation of 6 Circumference Roads
*An Interchange was required to be built between SLEX and EDSA it opened in 1975 under the administration of Ferdinand Marcos
*The Magallanes Interchange is currently one of the busiest intersections in Metro Manila
*The Magallanes Interchange is a four level partial Turbine Interchange in Makati, Metro Manila
*The Interchange was poorly designed however and in 2010 several pipe leaks as discovered under the interchange-
that is why the MMDA closed down its outer lanes
* It was reopened in 2011
*Serving as the junction between the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Epifanio De los Santos Avenue (EDSA)
*It is also an interchange between the 2 train lines of metro manila: MRT-3 (Which is over edsa) and the PNR Metro Commuter (beside SLEX)

*Palacio de Malacañan (Malacañang Palace) was originally built as a casita (Country House) in 1750- made of adobe wood with interiors panelled with finest narra and molave
*The land owned by Spanish aristocrat Don Antonio V. Rocha
*It was subsequently sold to Col. José Miguel Formento on November 16, 1802 for a sum of thousand pesos (later it was sold to the government upon his death in January 1825)
*The palace It became the temporary summer residence of the first Spanish Governor-General Rafael de Enchague y Birmingham (previously Governor of Puerto Rico)
*Between 1875 and 1879, Reconstruction and expansion resumed after the palace was hit by more Earthquakes, Typhoons and Fire
*It became the residence of the American Governors, with General Wesley Merritt Being the first American Military Governor at the Palace in 1898
*While William Howard Taft became the first Civil Governor resident in 1901

*During WWII in 1942 , Japanese turned Malacañang into a gilded prison -Quezon moved his seat to corregidor, the headquarters of General Douglas MacArthur
*Malacañang Palace survived the WWII the only major government building left standing after the bombing of manila
*The Palace complex was again drastically remodeled and extensively rebuilt during the term of Ferdinand Marcos
*The palace has been seized several times as the result of protests starting with the People Power Revolution, 1989 coup attempt, the 2001 Manila riots and the Edsa III (or May 1 riots)

*The name is derived from summer cottage New England of Governor Forbes whose administration the original Mansion House was built under
*The Mansion house was badly damaged during World War II and was rebuilt in 1947
* The Mansion House was also used as the venue of important events, such as the second session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East (ECAFE) in 1947
*The second session of the Food and Agriculture Organization in 1948 and the first meeting of the Southeast Asian Union (SEAU), more commonly known as the Baguio Conference of 1950
*It has served as the holiday home and working office for each President of the Philippines during his or her visits to Baguio

*Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RMSC) simply known as the Rizal Memorial Stadium
*RMSC was inaugurated in time for the 1934 Far Eastern Championship Games
*The land where the Art Deco sports facility designed by architect Juan Arellano was built was donated by the Vito Cruz Family
*During the Philippine Commonwealth era the sports complex was also used as a civic area and was the site here Manuel Quezon was named one of the presidential candidates in the 1935 elections
*It was destroyed during WWII and reconstructed for use in the 1954 Asian Games
*It served as the Main stadium of the 1954 Asian Games and Southeast Asian Games in three occasions
*The complex was renovated in 2011
*The stadium is also officially the home of the Philippines National Football Team and Philippines Football League side F.C. Meralco Manila
*In December 2016, the group of businessman Enrique Ramon has expressed interest for the proposed urban redevelopment and modernisation of the RMSC
*In April 2017, The sports complex was declared as the National Historical Landmark by the NHCP and an Important Cultural Property by the National Museum of the Philippines

*The Yusay-Consing Mansion popularly known as the Molo Mansion 
*It was Originally built in the 1920 and completed in 1926
*The first resident was Doña Petra Lacson who married Manila’s judge of the court of first Instance Estanislao Yusay 
*They had a big family with 10 children 
*The family was said to possess and have power over the Molo district 
*The Mansion was later passed on to Timoteo Consing Sr. and his family (he served as iloilo’s Governor in 1935 to 1937)
*The Mansion was believed to have hosted and accommodated two Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon and Sergio Osmeña during their visit in Iloilo
*The mansion has been acquired by SM Land Inc. to restore and the house to its former glory and transform it into a heritage museum and was reopened to the public in 2015 
*There’s a Cafe Panay at the back of the Mansion- A signage warmly invites “Hapit Anay sa Cafe Panay” which is hiligaynon for Pass by Cafe Panay 
*The Mansion is now open as a heritage attraction and one of the newest tourist attraction in Iloilo City
“ HOLY ROSARY PARISH CHURCH “

*Holy Rosary Parish Church Formerly known as Santo Rosario Church, and also known as ANGELES CHURCH
*The foundation of the church were first laid out on October 18, 1877 by the founding families of Angeles City led by Don Mariano V. Henson
*It was as laid out by city planners in the Spanish Colonial era and now is one of the most distinctive landmark of the city
*the church was constructed from 1877-1896 by the Polo y Servicio labor system
*The church was finally finished as it still stands today on October 1909. it’s engineering and architectural skills where provided by Don Antonio de la Camara from Manila
*The church was also used by the U.S Army as a military hospital from 1899 to 1900
*The church’s Bellfry was Destroyed in the 1940’s as a result of the WWII
*It was immediately Testored by the Government with the help of American troops and was finished by early 1944
*The Church has recently been recognized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts as a National historical site
*Today, fondly called by locals as Pisambang Maraqui (Big Church) stands in epicenter of the old Culiat town
*The Holy Rosary Parish Church serves as the city’s main religious center, being located at the front of the former City Hall, now known as the Museo Ning Angeles

*In 1906, The Baguio country club was then consisted of a hastily built clubhouse a stuff of one, two tennis courts, three croquet grounds, and a three hole golf course
*In 2005, The National Historical Institute bestowed Baguio country club as one of the National Heritages in the country
*The current Baguio Country Club was designed by Architect Jose Pingoy Manosa in 1993 and was rebuilt after the devastating earthquake
THE LIZARES MANSION

*The Lizares Mansion built in the 1937 by Don Emiliano Lizares for his wife Conchita Gamboa and their two sons and three daughters
*The Lizares mansion which is a mixture of American and Spanish Architecture
*The mansion has three floors a basement and an attic
*It has 59 doors which indicate the intricacy of its layout
*During WWII, broke out the family left for safe hiding place in Pototan Iloilo
*The Mansion was then used as headquarters of the Japanese Army-it was believed that the basement became a dumping ground for tortured
*After the War, the family went back to live in the mansion but life was never the same
*In 1950’s, Don Emiliano Lizares died and his widow left for manila, leasing the mansion to a businessman who turned it into a casino
*The city Mayor later ordered that the casino be closed, claiming that it corrupted the ilonggos
*After that, The mansion was left to the hands of a caretaker Tio Doroy Finoland, who with. his wife kept it intact
*In 1962, The Lizares Mansion was sold to the Dominicans
*In 1963, it was converted into House of Formation for young Dominicans in the Philippines
*In 1978, the mansion compound became the home of Angelicum School Iloilo

“ THE HOTEL DE ORIENTE “

*The hotel de oriente was built in 1889 by Don Manuel Perez Marqueti (The father of Luis Perez Samanillo, owner of the Perez Samantillo Building in Escolta)
*It was a First-Class hotel and indeed, at one time was the only one in the entire archipelago
*It was to be First Luxurious Hotel to be built in the Philippines
*It was originally location site in front of Plaza Calderon de la Barca (present name Plaza Lorenzo Ruiz) around Binondo Manila
*The Spanish Architect Juan Huervas y Arizemendi (Who also designed the La Insular Building) was commissioned to design the hotel at a cost $100,000
*The hotel was one of the few dwellings in manila with electricity
*The hotel is also known for its most famous guest, It had 83 rooms one of which (specifically room 22) was where Jose Rizal reportedly stayed upon his return from Hong Kong in June 26, 1892
*Don Manuel Perez Marqueti passed away and his widow sold the hotel in 1899 for $600,000 and moved back to spain
*The hotel continued operation under the American Architect Edgar Bourne in 1903 to purchase the hotel de oriente for $675,000 by the Philippine Commission
*The hotel’s building was later used at the office of Philippines Constabulary, American Circulating Library, Official Gazette, and the Commercial Museum before being destroyed during the Japanese occupation, WWII
*the hotel facade transferred in Bagac,Bataan in October 2013
*Today, the original site of hotel in binondo already occupied by Metrobank (Tytana Plaza Building)

*An Ancestral House owned by the late Don Aniano Adasa a scion of one of the old and influential families in Dapitan
*It was built in 1900, and symbolizes American architecture with a touch of Spanish influence
*the house is an imposing symbol of a grandeur based heritage
*Today, it houses the Local Tourism Office of Dapitan City
*All in all ., there are forty heritage houses in Dapitan city which forms part the Dapitan Heritage Zone as declared by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) in 2011

" SANTO NIÑO DE TONDO CHURCH "

*Also known as TONDO CHURCH
*Tondo Church was recognized as Provincial Chapter on May 3, 1572 and Fray. Alonzo Alvarado
*Tondo church is one of the earliest churches established by the Spanish friars in Luzon
*It houses as image of infant Jesus which originally came from Acapulco Mexico
*It is believed that the construction of the first stone monastery started in 1611 under the term of Fr. Alonzo Guerrero (Then minister of Tondo)
*The building was damaged by earthquake of 1740 and was repaired the next year
*The church was heavily damaged again by another earthquake in 1863 and was rebuilt for the third time by Fr. Manuel Diez Gonzalez.
*The restoration was completed by Fr. Casimiro Herrera Parish priest of tondo from 1874 to 1880 who followed the plans of Architect Luciano Oliver in 1873
*The fence was designed by Architect Gregorio N Santos. Walls made of stone were imported from Guadalupe and Meycauayan
*The organ was imported from the cemetery during his prior ship from 1889 to 1898- the Fence was designed by Architect Gregorio N. Santos
*In 1898, Fr. Pablo Alvarez bought a molave door for 1470 pesos to be used as the main entrance door
*During the last days of Japanese occupation the church was reopened for thousands of refugees
*Tondo Church is one of the most visited churches in the Philippines
*In 1997,aside from major repairs, Carillon bells were installed under the term of Msgr. Emmanuel Sunga as Parish Priest
