DID YOU KNOW?! 
*The land of the present day Ayala Triangle Gardens was once the 42-hectare (100-acre) formerly known NEILSON AIRPORT (manila’s pre-WWII airport)
*And located in the vast Hacienda de San Pedro de Macati of the Zobel de Ayala family 
*When the airport was decommissioned in 1948 and transferred its present site in Nichols Fields- the site was returned to the ayalas and redeveloped as a commercial district 
*The runways were converted into roads which now form the Triangle’s boundaries: Ayala ave., along its southwest, Paseo de Roxas along northeast, and Makati Ave., to the southeast 
*By 1971, the Ayala Corporation moved to its new headquarters in the triangle at the Makati Stock Exchange Center 
*In the 1980’s, Ugarte field was the site of regular protests against the Marcos dictatorship 
*It was named after its owner and developers Ayala Land and “Opened to the Public” in November 2009
*Inspired by Hyde Park in London - the park which is dotted with palms, acacia trees and tropical foliage is considered as one of the few “green” areas in Makati
*today, Neilson Airport popularly Known as “ AYALA TRIANGLE GARDENS “(Urban Park)

SAN JUANICO BRIDGE

*San Juanico Bridge also known as Philippine-Japan Friendship Highway Bridge and Marcos Bridge 
*The bridge was designed by Arch-shaped truss 
*San Juanico Bridge is a part of the Pan- Philippine Highway and stretches from samar to Leyte 
*Constructed during the Marcos administration using Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) loans
*It was also Dubbed “The bridge of love” Touted as President Ferdinand Marcos “birthday gift” to his wife Imelda (who was known as the Rose of Tacloban)- It was of the high visibility foreign-loan projects initiated by Marcos during the run up to the 1969 president election campaign 
*The San juanico bridge Completed four years later, it was inaugurated on July 2, 1973 (Imelda Marco’s birthday)
*San Juanico bridge are The longest bridge spanning a body seawater in the philippines with the length of 2.162 kilometers (1.34mi) and width of 10.620 meters supported by 43 spans 
*The Bridge it shows initials (L&S) if you look at aerial view, you can make out a shape of the letter L on the part near Leyte And S on the part going to Samar province 
*The $21.9million worth of bridge was completed within four years of construction 
*In 1981, Directed by Carlo J. Caparas Hari ng Stunt, shoot the most daring stunt done by DANTE VARONA and a brave action star jumped off (San Juanico Bridge) to prove that he was kung of stunts in the philippines 
*The bridge was slightly damaged by typhoon Haiyan (Super typhoon Yolanda) in November 2013 but was quickly repaired and reopened within the month
*In January 2018, Samar Governor Sharee Ann Tan proposed to install LED lights in the bridge to boost tourism between leyte and samar islands and the lightning project is projected to be completed in November 8, 2018 (in time for the fifth anniversary of the onslaught of typhoon haiyan in eastern visayas)
*The San Juanico Bridge It has become an iconic tourist attraction acknowledged as “Part of the identity of people in Samar and Leyte”

*Philippine Women’s University (PWU) formerly known as Philippine Women’s College (PWC) and founded in 1919 by seven Filipinas: Francisca Tirona Benitez, Paz Marquez Benitez, Clara Aragon, Concepcion Aragon, Carolina Palma, Mercedes Rivera and Socorro Zaballero 
*PWU the first university for women in Asia founded by asians 
*The American colonial government recognized Philippine Women’s College (PWC) as a University in 1932
*During Japanese Occupation from 1942 to 1945- the PWU Manila campus a building occupying an entire city block was converted to a Hospital known as the “Pagamutan ng Maynila”
*It was severely damaged in WWII but was reopened in 1946
*PWU is recognized as being the first private school to have an organized student council 
* Male students were admitted to PWU in the 1970’s and the institution has been co-educational ever since 
*PWU has two campuses in Manila and Quezon City

*Quezon Memorial is a magnificent tribute to formerly president Manuel L Quezon
*The Quezon Memorial shrine is an art-deco themed monument was Designed of Architect Federico Ilustre and is made from Italian Carrara Marble and was built during the 1950’s and serves as the centerpiece of the Quezon memorial circle
*The 66-metre (217 ft) shrine, representing quezon’s age when he died from tuberculosis stands on a thirtysix hectare elliptical lot
*The three pillars of the monument symbolize Luzon Visayas and Mindanao
*former president Ferdinand Marcos issued an order declaring Quezon Memorial Circle as a National shrine In August 19, 1979

*The new terminal was inaugurated on September 22, 1961 (Manila International Airport)
*On January 22, 1972 , a Fire caused substantial damage to the original terminal building and a slightly smaller terminal was rebuilt in its a place the followers years in 1975 to 1981
*The old international terminal would serves as Manila’s domestic airport until another fire damaged it in may 1985.
*The present Terminal 1, originally named Manila international Airport was given its present name on August 17, 1987 by virtue republic act no. 6639 of the honouring Senator Benigno Ninoy Aquino jr. who was assassinated at the airport in 1983
*The Ninoy Aquino International Airport or NAIA terminal 1 formerly known and still commonly referred to as Manila International Airport as well as its codename Nichols Field

*The building was Build in 1962
*The original design of Insular life building was done by Architect Cesar H. Concio Sr. (as The President of the Philippine Institute of Architect and the Dean of the UP College of Architecture)
*National Artist Napoleon Abueva installed the original bas-relief on the facade of the building, unfortunately it was removed and is no longer displayed in the building’s facade
*The building was set to be demolished in the fourth quarter of 2002
*Insular Building first underwent renovation in 2005 under the supervision of Mohri, Architect & Associates, Inc.(formerly Takenobu Mohri Architects)
*In December 2015, Insular Building began its latest renovation under the supervision of Casas Architect
